Assistant Professor Dr Dennis Jancsary

Dennis Jancsary (dennis.jancsary@wu.ac.at) is Assistant Professor at the Institute for Organization Studies at WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business). He received his PhD from WU Vienna in 2011, where he also obtained the venia docendi (Habilitation) in business administration in 2021. From 2014 to 2015, he held a researcher position at Copenhagen Business School (CBS). In his research, he primarily draws on institutionalist approaches in organization theory, particularly the role of language and communication in institutional dynamics on the organizational and field levels. Recent work engages with the emergence, theorization and diffusion of novel organizational ideas, forms, and practices. Together with his co-authors, he has developed novel theory on the role of visual and multimodal communication in managerial rhetoric, narratives, and symbolism. His work also includes methodological and empirical contributions in these research areas. His research has been published in prominent scientific journals of the field, such as the Academy of Management Annals, the Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, and Organization Studies. He also serves as a member of the Editorial Review Boards of Organization Studies and Organization Theory.
